Bhutanese Royals call on Ladakh LG

LEH, Sept 9: Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Princess Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck from Bhutan paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, and First Lady Bindu Gupta, at the Raj Niwas.
During the interaction, the Queen spoke about the maiden official visit of the Bhutanese Royal Family to Ladakh and shared details of the places they visited. She underlined Ladakh’s beauty, its striking landscapes, and the warmth and affection of its people.
Lieutenant Governor Gupta stated that Ladakh attaches great significance to its centuries-old cultural, spiritual, and economic connections with Bhutan. He said the visit of the Bhutanese Royals would add momentum to people-to-people relations between Ladakh and Bhutan. He also referred to the shared Buddhist heritage linking the two regions and reiterated Ladakh’s commitment to preserving and promoting this legacy.
Gupta further spoke about various initiatives undertaken by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UT Administration for Ladakh’s development.
First Lady Bindu Gupta engaged with the Queen and the Princess, highlighting Bhutan’s efforts in maintaining its cultural traditions while pursuing modern progress.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note with both sides looking forward to deeper cultural and spiritual linkages in the times ahead.
