RAJOURI, Apr 8: Congress leader from Rajouri area Z A Bhatti who has also contested elections independently on earlier occasion, was detained by the election authorities and his vehicle with Delhi number seized today.
Official sources said that Bhatti along with another Congress leader Master Tasaduq Hussain were holding election meeting in the house of a Government employees Abdul Rashid (PHE) and another Mohd Razak at Dhani Dar this afternoon. The election authorities team on a specific information conducted raid, while Master slipped away in his vehicle, Zaheer Abbas Bhatti along with his Delhi number vehicle Ambassador car No. DL3CAA/7545, fitted with red light was detained and taken to DC office.
Mr Bhatti dodged the staff at DC office and escaped along with vehicle which belonged to Housing Development Corp Delhi, towards Jammu. The staff flashed message to SDM Nowshera and they alerted police also. A naka was laid near Nowshera and Bhatti was captured and detained. The election authorities have taken cognizance of the matter. The vehicle was also seized.
Meanwhile, at Mendhar some PDP activists snatched the digital camera of election flying squad when they were shooting Mufti’s road show at Saran Wali Bhati. On the complaint, the ARO has taken cognizance and identified vehicles bearing Numbers JK-12/4127 ( Santro car), JK-12 4576 and Sumo No JK-12/1981 in which the political activists were travelling.
