JAMMU, Mar 17: The Bharat Vikas Parishad Shivalik Branch marked International Women’s Day with a memorable event alongside the election of a new team for the upcoming year.
Madhu Gupta, City Coordinator, BVP Prant J&K; Arun Sharma, National Council Member, NGSC; Prof Dr Santosh Gupta, Patron BVP JK Prant, and Prof Dr Neelu Rohmetra (Dean of Research Studies at Jammu University and former Founding Director of IIM Sirmour HP) were special guests on the occasion.
Prof H C Vaid expressed his views on women’s empowerment and aim of international women’s day. Ashok Gupta provided an insightful explanation of the history and work of Bharat Vikas Parishad. The evening’s highlight was a beautiful poem recited by Anju Bansal.
Special guest Prof Dr Neelu Rohmetra spoke passionately about her life journey and the achievements that shaped her career. Her speech inspired everyone present and highlighted the importance of perseverance and dedication.
Dr Santosh Gupta, Chairman of the event, expressed his appreciation for the program, calling it a vision of great value.
The session was followed by elections of the new BVP Shivalik Branch team for the year 2025-26. Ashok Khajuria was elected as president, Rakesh Sharma as Secretary and Vivek Mahajan as the Treasurer.
Arun Sharma, Madhu Gupta, Prof Santosh Gupta, Patron. Prof H C Vaid and Rakesh Sharma were the election observers.
The Annual Report for 2024-25 was read by Ashok Khajuria, Secretary, BVP Shivalik Branch, highlighting the branch’s achievements, followed by the financial report for the same period presented by Rakesh Sharma. Arun Sharma explained the election process, in accordance with national guidelines.
H C Vaid, the outgoing president, expressed his gratitude towards the newly elected team and wished them all the best for the future. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashok Gupta.
