JAMMU, Dec 18: Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Bharat Tibet Sangh, organised two- day working committee meet-cum-seminar.
The chief guest for the inaugural session was Penpa Tsering, Sikyong, Central Tibetan Administration while Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu was the guest of honour. Major Gen Neelambar Kumar, national Vice-president Bharat Tibet Sangh was special guest while Prof Ramnandan Singh, Head, Department of Sanskrit and Pali, Central Sanskrit University, Lucknow, was Resource Person for the inaugural session. Advocate Saurabh Saraswat, General Secretary, Bharat Tibet Sangh and Dr Rajesh Sharma from Department of Buddhist Studies were the conveners and Co-conveners, respectively of the seminar.
In his address, Penpa Tsering, Prime Minister of Tibet said that India is a very peaceful country but again and again intrusion from China instigates the country to react sharply. He also highlighted geographical and territorial state of Tibet which commands not only the highest but also the most strategic position in Central Asia.
Prof Ramnandan Singh, in his keynote address, said that Buddhism focuses on logic, art and culture, Sanskrit, medicine and Buddhist philosophy which was further divided into five categories.
Prof Naresh Padha, in his address, supported the worldwide movement for the Tibet liberation and reaching out to Mansarovar without any hindrances.
Dr Neharica Subhash from CSSEIP Centre, University of Jammu, conducted proceedings of the programme while Kuldeep Sharma, Regional Convenor North, BTS presented vote of thanks.
In the valedictory session, Dr Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary, JKBOSE was the chief guest, Samrat Khosla Commandant BSF (Retd) was the guest of honour while Rawal Harish Semwal from Gangotri Dham was the special guest.
Dr Sudhir Singh, in his address, said that Tibet has a very inclusive culture whose reflections we can find in Ladakh and Dharamshala itself. He impressed upon studying the literature of Tibet for its inclusion.
Dr Rajesh Sharma presented vote of thanks. Other dignitaries present on the occasion, included Prof Virender Koundal, Director DSRS; Prof Lalitsen, Provost Hostels; Dr Munir Alam, Dr Jaspal Singh Warwal, Vinay Katal, Vijay Singla, Sardar Vikrajeet Singh, Ashwani Sharma and other members of working committee of BTS.
