Bharat Petroleum expanding retail network to Ladakh

JAMMU, Nov 29: BPCL, India’s second largest oil marketing company, is set to expand its retail network to Ladakh, as the company handed over the first Letter of Intent (LoI) of a Retail Outlet in favour of Bamiduniya Cooperative Store in Leh.
BPCL had no presence of its Retail business in Ladakh region. Though the company has many milestones of partnering with Indian army and has established exclusive facilities for them including far off terrains like Pengong Lake etc but Retail network of the company is yet to expand there.
The efforts of the local team of the company in J&K brought the results with the handing over of the first letter of Intent of a Retail Outlet in favour of Bamiduniya Cooperative Store in Leh on November 28.
LAHDC CEO cum Deputy Commissioner Leh is already in the advanced stage of allotment of land for construction of a mini POL depot at village Nimmo, Leh on Leh-Kargil road. BPCL will bring a modern Retail Outlet on this land alongside the POL depot to cater to the motorists of this region.
LoI for this Retail Outlet was handed over by T Peethambaran, Head of Retail business of BPCL in Northern Region to Chering Dorjey, Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs in the presence of Retail Head for Punjab and J&K, Sanjeev Kumar and Assistant Registrar, Cooperatives, Leh.
Rajesh Sharma, Territory Manager of BPCL in J&K stated that Company has been very aggressive in expanding the Retail network to Ladakh Region and immediately on opening of Leh in May 2018, they will start the work to make this a reality in next season there. He also stated that BPCL shall keep the momentum of growth on and will maintain leadership position in J&K.
