JAMMU, Dec 3: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today asserted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive development in all spheres during last five year period and Government has taken several concrete measures to provide durable assets to upgrade the living standard of the people.
Mr. Bhalla said this during his tour to Channi Himmat Sector-3 and its adjoining areas to review the pace of maintenance and upgradation work on the Housing Colony and other development works there.
He asked the executing agencies to come up with effective strategy for early completion of mega projects taken in hand, adding that Government has earmarked huge funds in this regard. He underlined the involvement of public representatives in execution of development works as they are the ears and eyes of the Government.
He said that vast dimension given to growth and development viz road linkage, construction of bridges and other projects has taken development to the doorsteps of people living in remote and far-flung areas.
Mr. Bhalla issued specific instructions to MD J&K Housing Board to immediately complete upgradation work of lanes and drains, approach road, and lighting in the Colony for which Rs. 55 lakh has been sanctioned. The Minister desired that the pace of progress on maintenance of the colony be expedited.
While interacting with the locals, the Minister said that Government was aware of their problems and efforts are being made to address them in phased manner. Proposal of other development works is under active consideration of the Government and every possible measure will be taken to further improve things on ground, he maintained.
Managing Director, J&K Housing Board, Ram Paul Sharma, senior Congress leader and former PYC senior vice president Ajay Tony and officers of Housing Board accompanied the Minister.
