JAMMU, Jan 19: Former Minister, two times MLA and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has sought Governor NN Vohra’s attention towards the tourism related projects, which were started in the State by the previous Government led by Congress.
Former Minister said that the previous Government led by Congress had initiated various prestigious projects under Tourism Sector in Jammu region to promote tourism which includes construction of Tawi artificial lake, Peer Kho to Bahu Fort Ropeway (Gandola) and construction of international convention centre, but all these projects are hanging in balance due to one or other issue.
Bhalla stated this while addressing a rally in Peer Baba Chatha area of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Listing the measures taken by the previous Congress led Government in improving the drinking water scenario in the City of Temples, the Minister said that number of tube-wells with Over Head Tanks have been constructed so far and the work on many others was in full swing under PHE and ERA sectors.
He said the work on 6-lane road with road dividers from Satwari to Kunjwani is in full swing, adding that a number of multipurpose halls are being constructed at various places for facilitating the people.
Former Minister urged Governor NN Vohra to pass the necessary directions to the executing agencies and departments associated with development activities to ensure time-bound completion of ongoing development related works so as to give a fillip to tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhalla said that in the past Congress made all out efforts to provide better infrastructure and amenities to the people. He also asked the people to keep a watch on the implementation of schemes for better results on the ground.
He said that Congress party is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State at their doorsteps, adding that various development projects have been initiated in the State to facilitate the public.
“I have a dream of making a modern and progressive Gandhi Nagar constituency and to cherish this dream I will continue to work despite defeat in the recent Assembly elections”, Mr Bhalla said, adding that “My doors are always open for the people and I will leave no stone unturned to redress the plight of the people”.
