Paying rich tributes to legendary Dogri and Gojri Folk Singer, the Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said that Haji Ghulam Mohammad was a connoisseur of devotional songs (Bhakan) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and a symbol of secular tradition of Jammu and Kashmir State.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at a function organized by Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Sansthan (BLSS) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at K L Saigal hall to pay glowing tributes to Dogra legendry folk singer late Haji Gulam Mohammad Dansaliya, here today.
Additional Secretary JKAACL Savita Bakshi, Chairman BLSS M L Dogra, Director BLSS V K Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Yash Pal Yash besides writers, Dogri singers and poets were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla said with his death an era of spiritual Dogri music has come to an end. He prayed to Almighty to bless his soul and hoped that his followers will be able to continue with the tradition. He said Late Dansaliya’s demise has created a vacuum in the State’s Folk music which will not be filled for years to come.
The Minister lauded the efforts of BLSS and JKAACL for organizing a program, first of its kind, to pay tributes to Dogri Legendry who enriched the culture of the State in every nook and corner of the country.
On the occasion a colourful cultural programme was also presented by renowned artists of Jammu and the sons of Dansaliya, in Dogri, Gojri and Punjabi.
Bhalla also honoured Late Gulam Mohammad Dansaliya’s wife Jan Bibi and three sons Shamsher Mohammad, Israr Mohammad and Iqrar Mohammad.
Earlier, the Minister also launched upgradation work on lanes and drains in W No. 22 and 43 of Shastri Nagar area, for which Government has earmarked Rs 9.5 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the works within stipulated time frame by using quality material.
