JAMMU, Mar 2: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture and Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla, today said the Government is making all out efforts to improve the developmental profile of every corner of the State with modern infrastructural facilities.
The Minister said this while addressing a large gathering at Sanjay Nagar, W. No. 46 after launching Rs. 43 lakh development works including upgradation of lanes and drains with grating facilities at Sanjay Nagar, Gangyal and Trikuta Nagar, here today.
Mr. Bhalla asked the JMC engineers to complete the works within prescribed time frame. He said aim of the Coalition Government is to upgrade the living standards of the people by providing all basic amenities like safe drinking water, electricity, health, education, road connectivity besides better lanes and drains.
The Minister said Government has prepared a detailed project report costing Rs. 5 crore for face lifting of all the open spaces in Sanjay Nagar and Rani Talab in Digiana that has been available on embankments of nallah by constructing slab and recreational parks.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Government has taken various innovative measures to improve the development profile of the state. He said there is no constraint of funds for developing every corner on modern lines, adding that for this purpose Central Government has provided liberal funding under various sectors. He said many more projects are in pipeline to provide succor to the people through developmental schemes.
The Minister informed that Government has approved Rs. 4 crore for construction of sub-ways, illumination and plantation besides extension of Kunjwani-Satwari 4-lane road to 6-lane, adding that the project could be started after completing tendering formalities by Roads and Bridges Department.
With a view to attract increased tourists and pilgrims’ influx in Bahu Fort area, the Minister said Government has sanctioned Rs. 40 crore for construction of Cable Car Project from Mahamaya temple to Shahbad Basti in Bahu Fort and Bahu Fort to Peer Kho. He said the project is in progress and would be dedicated to the City of Temples within 36 months.
Listing the measures taken up by the Government for improving the socio-economic scenario of Sanjay Nagar, Digiana, Nanak Nagar and Preet Nagar, Bhalla said that Government has dedicated Rs. 4 crore receiving station and earmarked Rs. 5 crore for parking slot near cremation ground at Shastri Nagar to the people.
