Bhalla for proper maintenance of public parks

JAMMU, Oct 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has asked the Floriculture Department to gear up its men and machinery to maintain and renovate all the recreational parks situated in Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar localities.
The Minister issued the directions to the concerned after laying foundation stone for upgradation of Gandhi Nagar, Sector-A recreational park, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government was committed to develop healthy environment in the urban cities by developing more greener patches on the open spaces, adding that for this purpose, a comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop all the parks with facilities like seating, drinking water, sprinkle irrigation, illuminated walkway, landscaping and fencing. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the parks and help in maintaining cleanliness.
The Minister said the Government was making all out efforts to beautify all the open spaces by developing walkways or recreational parks to make the city more attractive. He called upon the people to avail the benefits of such places by going for morning and evening walks.
Responding to the local demands, . Bhalla asked the JMC and Floriculture Department to work in coordination to remove bushes besides renovation of damaged walkways. He called upon the people of the Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar not to dump building as well as waste material in parks, adding that such practices not only create hindrances for executing agencies but also dampen the beauty of park.
The Minister said instructions have been issued to the JMC, R&B, Floriculture, PDD and PHE Department to take up sanitation, repair of faulty street lights, renovation of public places, besides ensure regular drinking water and improved power supply in view of the upcoming festival season.
Later, the Minister also visited Govt Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar and inspected the sites for construction of additional rooms, library, computer lab, examination hall and kitchen.
Mr. Bhalla informed that the Government has earmarked Rs. 70 lakh for construction of these facilities at the school. He said there was no constraint of funds in providing all infrastructure facilities to the students in Government schools.
