*Calls for monsoon preparedness

JAMMU, May 5: The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) District Jammu Urban in a meeting held under the leadership of District president Yogesh Sawhney, with the proceedings presided over by working president and former Minister Raman Bhalla, raised local civic issues and sought their immediate redressal.
Addressing the gathering, Raman Bhalla launched a scathing attack on the administration for its failure to address basic civic issues affecting the common people. He highlighted the growing public distress due to irregular water supply, unscheduled power cuts, and deteriorating infrastructure across urban and peripheral areas of Jammu. He stated that residents are facing immense hardships due to damaged roads, poor drainage systems, and lack of proper sanitation.
Bhalla expressed concern over rising unemployment, stating that the absence of job opportunities and delayed recruitment processes have pushed many into frustration and uncertainty. He pointed out that inflation and the rising cost of living have added to the burden of common households, making survival increasingly difficult for economically weaker sections. He said every section of society, including daily wage earners, traders, employees, and students, is grappling with multiple challenges due to policy failures and lack of effective governance.
He stressed the need for immediate corrective measures to ensure regular supply of essential services such as drinking water and electricity, improvement in civic amenities, and implementation of employment-generating initiatives. He urged the J&K Government to act promptly and mitigate the sufferings of the people and restore public confidence.
Former minister GM Saroori, emphasized unity and discipline within the party ranks while urging leaders to remain actively connected with the people. He underlined the importance of raising genuine public issues and ensuring that the concerns of marginalized and weaker sections are effectively represented. He also called for a strong and united approach to face the upcoming electoral challenges and reaffirm the party’s commitment to public service.
Yogesh Sawhney reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing public grievances and strengthening its cadre at the grassroots level. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts among party leaders and workers to mobilize public opinion and expose the shortcomings of the present administration.
Prominent among those present including – Satish Sharma, Pawan Dev Singh, Surinder Kumar, Rajesh Sharma, Sohit Sharma, Sandeep Dogra, R P Magotra, Rakesh Sharma, Latish Sharma, H S Bagii, Gurmeet Singh, Vinod Pandita and others.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Choudhary, retired Executive Engineer from Mendhar and brother-in-law of former minister and senior Congress leader, Lal Mohd Sabir joined Congress at the Party office Jammu in presence of JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla, Ex-MP TS Bajwa, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former minister G M Saroori and Ex-MLC Ved Mahajan today.
