Bhalla dedicates Rs 1.25 cr community hall to Gorkha Nagar people

JAMMU, Sept 21: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today dedicated Rs. 1.25 crore Multipurpose Community Hall to the people of Gorkha Nagar in Bahu Fort.
On the occasion, the Minister said that Government is making all out efforts to provide all basic amenities to every section of the society. He said on the dedication of the Multipurpose Community Hall at Gorkha Nagar, the people of the locality would be able to celebrate their social as well as religious functions there on minimum fee. He appealed the people to protect public property in their locality, adding that Government has spent crores of rupees in improving the living standard of the people across the State.
Mr. Bhalla asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to upgrade the lanes and drains with grating facilities in the Gorkha Nagar for the convenience of the general public.
At Greater Jammu, the Minister asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation Officers to immediately start the construction work of damaged deep drain so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He said due to damage of deep drain by flash floods, the foul water entered into the houses of the residents which damaged their households.
Regarding construction of ladies bathroom (tootian), Mr. Bhalla called upon the locals to identify the land for the purpose so that construction of the project could be started. He informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 26 lakh for restoring of damages of roads, lanes and drains due to flash floods.
On the demand of locals, the Minister asked the R&B Department to prepare estimates for construction of deep drain and road widening from Trikuta Nagar Sector-9 to Carmel Convent School in Greater Jammu and submit the same for early start of work.
At Langer, Mr. Bhalla convened a public grievances redressal camp and assessed development related issues of the inhabitants of the locality. He said Government is fully aware with the problems of the newly developed colonies and is making all out efforts to develop the areas with all basic amenities. He said there is no constraint of funds under PHE, PDD, UEED, JMC, R&B, Education and Health sectors. He said Government is committed to provide safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, road connectivity, education, health besides better lanes and drains to the people of the locality.
The Minister informed that Government is working towards ensuring overall development in every nook and corner of the State, adding that to meet this objective, various projects are being launched across the State.
As part of this endeavour, Mr. Bhalla today launched Rs. 15 lakh development works at Langer village in Kunjwani. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete all the launched projects within stipulated time frame by using quality material.
Later, the Minister also laid foundation stone of Toilet Complex at Akali Kour Singh Nagar, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 13 lakh by Lakshya Social Service Organisation. The Toilet complex would having one female toilet and 3 male toilets.
