JAMMU, Aug 3: PCC vice president and former minister, Raman Bhalla today asked the party workers to gear up for Municipal Corporation and Urban Local Bodies elections.
Speaking at felicitation function organised in connection with the appointment of Vikram Malhotra as DCC Jammu urban president, former minister urged on the party workers to gear up for the ensuing elections to the Corporations and Local Bodies and strengthen the party at the grass root level.
Bhalla said that Congress is a strong force in the state and there is need to further activate the cadres. He welcomed the decision of the Party high command for appointing Malhotra as president of District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban). He said that Malhotra has a vast experience of organizational matters, as he has worked as National general secretary Youth Congress and general secretary JKPCC.
S. Gurmukh Singh in his address welcomed the decision of the party leadership to choose Malhotra for the post of DCC chief Jammu Urban, which is a well deserved representation to a dedicated and hardworking solider of the party. He hoped that District Congress would be further strengthened under the presidentship of Malhotra.
While lauding the decision of the party high command, PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that top leadership has acceded to the popular demand of the party workers of Jammu Urban district for appointing Vikram Malhotra as DCC president, who is widely acceptable by all sections of the society and a well deserving choice of the party
Malhotra extended gratitude to the Party high command for giving him a chance to serve the people and the Congress Party with more devotion and dedication. He said that his loyalty and services towards the party have been recognized.
Earlier, Malhotra was accorded warm welcome by the party activists and other functionaries at the party office. A large number of party functionaries including Kanta Bhan (v-p), Manmohan Singh Narmrta Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Shiv Dev Singh, Gurdarshan Singh, Neeraj Gupta and Thomas Khokhar were also present on the occasion.
