The inmates of the Aashram and other social activists attended the function. Later the sweets and Prashad was also distributed among the children.
In other parts of the city people were seen leaving their homes early in the morning towards the residents of their sisters to celebrate the Bhai Dhoj which comes two days after holy festival of Diwali. Despite the COVID restrictions the huge rush was seen on city roads and traffic jams were also witnessed at Canal road, Janipur road, Old city road and New Plots.
Bhai Dhoj a Hindu festival is essentially meant to celebrate the virtuous bond between brother and sister. The festival is celebrated in India from Puranic period. On this occasion, sisters pray for the well being of their brothers and in return, brothers promise to protect them always. Bhai Dhoj which seems similar to the another holy festival of Raksha Bandhan is slightly different from the occasion. Unlike the Raksha Bandhan sisters do not tie a thread or Rakhi on the ankle of their brothers on Bhai Dhoj but they put a Tilak on their forehead and perform Aarti.
