Bhagat inaugurates exhibition of Khadi products

JAMMU, Feb 6: Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Raj Kumar Bhagat today inaugurated seven day long State level exhibition-cum-sale of Khadi and Village Industries products manufactured by the entrepreneurs of Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) at City Palace, Kachi Chawni here.
The exhibition-cum-sale is organized by KVIB every year to provide an opportunity to the entrepreneurs who have availed financial assistance under REGP and PMRGP schemes to exhibit and sell their products.
About 32 stalls were installed by the different entrepreneurs of KVIB, exhibiting Kashmiri embroidery suits, shawls, pashmina shawls, cricket bats, food products, readymade garments, pickle, paper machie, sozni, crewel embroidery, carpets, dry fruit, steel fabrication, bandages etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary, Industries and Commerce while highlighting the importance of khadi said that it is not only fabric but also provides means of livelihood to the lakhs of people across the country. Appreciating   KVIB for organizing such exhibitions, Mr Bhagat said that such exhibitions would go a long way and inspire the new entrepreneurs and unemployed youth. He urged the unemployed youth to take maximum benefits of the various schemes for establishing their own income generating units for their socio-economic upliftment.
Special secretary, I&C Sajad Ahmad Khan also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the KVIB for organizing such exhibition. He called for organizing such programmes at district level also.
Secretary and CEO, KVIB Afroz Mir while highlighting the achievements of the organization said that KVIB is organizing National level exhibition-cum-sale at Srinagar in March, 2016 in which more than 200 entrepreneurs are expecting to participate. He directed the KVIB authorities and other concerned to work in synergy to make that exhibition a grand success.
Mr Mir said that under PMEGP 735 units were set up with a margin money of Rs 13.44 crore during the financial year 2015-16 which provided employment avenues to about  4269  unemployed youth against.
