BGSBU organises ‘Cultural Festival’

RAJOURI, Nov 30: Two-day Annual Cultural Festival- 2023, organised by University Cultural and Literary Club, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, concluded on today.
More than 200 students from various departments participated in various events, including singing, dance, poetry and debate and painting competitions.
Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of the University, was the chief guest on the occasion. He complimented the participants for their thrilling performances and assured that the University will be providing them with many such opportunities to showcase their talent and make their nation proud in various forms of performing arts.
Saqib Iqbal, a student of the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, bagged the first prize in the singing (Solo) competition whereas a team of students of Environmental Studies, headed by Taniya, clinched the first position in singing (Group).
A team of students from the College of Engineering and Technology and Biotechnology, headed by Rehanna Sheikh, got first prize in the group dance category whereas Ishrat Wani, student of B VOC, received first prize in the solo dance category.
Zaigam Jaffri, a student of the Department of Arabic, got first prize in a poetry competition. Ulfat Jaan of EVS, received first prize in drawing and painting competition. Zara Sheikh, a student of EVS, got first position in debate competition.
Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to the volunteers and anchors of the event. Dr. Manzar Alam and Dr Shrikar Pant judged the events. The award-giving ceremony was conducted by Bushra , a student of EVS Department.
Dr Danish Iqbal Raina, Convener, University Cultural and Literary Club, presented the welcome address. The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr Mamta Bhat, Dr Manzar Alam and Dr Farkhanda Ana, members of University Cultural and Literary Club.
Those who were present on the occasion, included Dean Academic Affairs Dr A A Shah; Registrar Mohd Ishaq; Associate Dean School of Languages, Dr Shams Kamal Anjum; Joint Director CBC, Ghulam Abass, Heads and coordinators of various Departments, students, research scholars, officers and officials of the University.
