KATHUA, Apr 7: Senior Congress leader and former MP Dr Karan Singh today advised the people to beware of BJP’s anti-people and anti-secular policies.
Dr Singh was addressing public meetings at Kathua and Hiranagar in support of his son Vikramaditya Singh, who is candidate of Congress for Udhampur Parliamentary constituency.
While seeking votes for Vikramaditya Singh, he said that he has contested and won the Udhampur Parliamentary seat four times with the support of local people on Congress mandate and now when his son Vikramaditya Singh is contesting on the same seat, he has come to them to seek votes for him.
Taking a dig on BJP led Government Dr Karan Singh said that despite dividing the nation, which is dangerous for the health of the country, BJP has done nothing. He said that BJP Government failed to provide any relief to cross-border firing affected people.
“BJP has only created lot of controversies and hatred between different regions and sections of the State. At the time of forming coalition Government with PDP in the State, BJP had claimed that this coalition would bring the regions closure, besides bring about massive financial support from the Centre but it miserably failed on both these fronts,” he added.
Criticizing the policies of BJP terming them anti-people and anti-secular, he said BJP divides the society for personal interest, but Congress believes in unity of all castes, creed, and colors of society and taking all the communities together for the development of the country.
Karan Singh said that BJP is trying to harness vote in the name of surgical strike but he would like to highlight that it was late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who succeeded in making the very first surgical strike when Bangladesh came into existence and forced Pakistan army to surrender.
Ex-MLC Subash Gupta, ex-MLA Girdhari Lal Chalotra and ex-MLA Prem Lal also spoke on the occasion.
