BANIHAL, May 19: In broad day light, a bear entered into a residential house in village Nowgam near Jawhar Tunnel before killing one horse and nine goats of a nomad, and creating panic among the villagers.
About 10.30 this morning, the bear entered into the house of one Mohammed Yousf and his family by breaking a window, when they were working in nearby fields, and occupied the house, thus created panic in the village. Earlier before entering into the house, the bear killed one horse and nine goats of a nomad crossing nearby village.
On getting information, the owner of the house and other villagers rushed to the spot and waited for hours for officials of Wild Life Department and Police to come. When no person from Wildlife Department or police reached the spot the villagers shouted slogans against Wildlife Department.
In the meantime, Police and officials of Wild Life Department reached the spot, but became victim of violent anger of villager, who beat up fire man of Wild Life Department, Imtayaz Ahmed and police constable Suresh Kumar.
