BE students resent exclusion of E&C degree from AE Elec posts

JAMMU, May 24: Several aspirants for the posts of Assistant Engineers (Electrical) advertised by the Public Service Commission (PSC) have knocked the doors of the PSC and the Power Development Department (PDD) seeking inclusion of the Bachelor in Engineering degree of Electronics and Communication Engineering for the post, which has been excluded.
Aspirants were of the view that earlier the BE degree of Electronics and Communication Engineering used to be included for the post of AE Electrical but this time, however, the PSC has excluded Electronics and Communication Engineering but included Electronics and Computer Science Engineering.
Both the degrees were of the same nature, they said, and demanded that the Electronics and Communication Engineering should be included for the post of AE Electrical.
Sources in the PSC said they have included the degrees in the advertisement, which were eligible for the posts of AE Electrical, on the basis of list furnished by the PDD.
“It was up to the PDD to include Electronics and Communication Engineering in the list and we will extend deadline for receipt of the applications by a week to facilitate those holding E&C degree to apply in case the Power Development Department decides to include it,’’ they said.
Students of Electronics and Communications threatened to launch agitation if their degree was not included immediately in the list.
