SRINAGAR, July 24: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today asked the officers to be responsive to the needs and demands of people and ensure their resolution in a dedicated manner.
Chairing a review meeting of key developmental projects in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur here today, the Chief Minister directed the Administrative Secretaries to make the Deputy Commissioners and Head of Departments accountable in terms of reaching out to people and solving their day to day problems. She said low spending by the officers reflects poorly on their performance which would be viewed seriously.

Mehbooba asked the Chief Secretary to evolve an organised mechanism to evaluate and monitor the implementation of decisions of the District Development Board meetings, commitments and directions of the Chief Minister made and issued from time to time.
She directed posting of adequate Dogri, Urdu and Punjabi language teachers at the Colleges for teaching these subjects. She also directed exploring the feasibility of setting up an ITI at Ramnagar and early completion of Bani Degree College by early next year.
Legislators of these districts; Chief Secretary B B Vyas, Administrative Secretaries of various departments and senior officers were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, M K Bhandari, Deputy Commissioners and District Officers of these Districts also attended the meeting via video conference.
Today’s meetings were part of the initiative of the Chief Minister of providing a direct interface between the public representatives and the officers. The public representatives hailed the initiative of the Chief Minister for getting a firsthand appraisal of developmental works from the executing agencies and the corresponding response from the public representatives.
Meanwhile, Mehbooba today directed the Administrative Secretaries to undertake frequent field visits to assess the execution of developmental projects on the ground and intervene on the spot in case of any difficulty or bottleneck.
Chairing a review meeting of key developmental projects in the Districts of Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri here today, the Chief Minister expressed dismay over slow pace of execution of development works and low spending in these Districts. She asked the Administrative Secretaries to monitor closely the pace of developmental works in the region and try to remove the bottlenecks on the spot as and when these come to surface.
She asked the Divisional Administration Jammu to identify land for the border migrants of Poonch and Rajouri districts so that the schools in these areas, which are being used presently as temporary shelters for them, are not overburdened and the academic activity is not disrupted.
Mebooba specifically asked for prioritising flood protection works in the area in view of its vulnerability. She asked the concerned Department to pursue flood protection works with the Central Water Commission and get them approved.
She asked for early completion of work on the Rs 18 crore Poonch Mini Secretariat complex, pacing up of work on Loran-Gulmarg road and exploring the possibility of opening up of Gulabgarh- Nandimarg road for traffic to further connect the people of two regions. She directed identification of land for developing a sports field at Kalsian in Nowshera and upgradation of school buildings at Chingus and Rajouri.
The Chief Minister asked for keeping a provision of stand-bye machinery at the Water Supply and Lift Irrigation Schemes so that in case of any fault these are immediately replaced.
The meeting was informed that Degree College at Dharmari would be commissioned by March, 2018 even as she directed immediate release of land compensation for setting up a college at Sara Bagga.
