SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan has expressed hope that Block Development Council (BDC) elections will further boost developmental activities in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Advisor made these remarks, during an interaction with group of newly appointed BDC Chairmen from Sonawari and Ganderbal areas.
The Advisor said that after conclusion of BDC elections, Jammu and Kashmir would now receive additional funds from Centre and the funding would help to give further boost to developmental activities in far flung and rural areas.
The Advisor said BDC election was long pending demand of elected Sarpanchs and Panchs and the successful conclusion of elections would help to maintain a close monitoring of developmental works at planning and execution level.
Regarding pending wages under MGNERAGA and other schemes in Rural Development Department, the Advisor assured the elected BDC Chairpersons that he would look into the matter so that the wages would be released without out any further delay.
The Advisor asked the elected BDC Chairmen that they should give him regular feedbacks regarding functioning of block development offices.
The delegation briefed the Advisor about the day-to-day problems being facing by the people in their respective areas.
