BD warns against bovine smuggling

JAMMU, Jan 9: Expressing its serious concern over increasing bovine smuggling in Jammu region, the Bajrang Dal today warned that in case the Government fails to curb the same it will install its own nakas in the region to check the menace.
Talking to reporters here BD president, Rakesh Sharma alleged that daily permissions for transportation of 10 to 15 vehicles carrying bovines are being granted from DC Office Jammu which is a cause of concern. These permissions are issued by one official only, he added.
He said the BD will make surprise checks on roads and seize all the vehicles carrying bovines to Valley without permission.
He said in case the cattle were not as per the permission granted by the authorities and were milch animals the BD activists will ghearo the concerning Police Stations which fail to seize these animals.
Sharma said two years back there was an order from the Government that the concerned Naib Tehsildars, SHOs and Sarpanchs should ascertain that the bovines being carried to Kashmir valley and other parts are as per permission.
He alleged that these orders have been thrown to winds by the concerned officers with the result the bovine smuggling is on increase from Jammu region.
The other BD leaders present in the press conference included Pawan Kumar, Dilip Singh and Govind Mani.
