JAMMU, Aug 6: Bari Brahmana Industries Association has sought intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to set up a high level committee to take necessary steps for resolving the issues of Industrial Sector related to Commercial Tax Check Post & Toll Post at Lakhanpur.
An appeal in this regard was made during an emergency meeting of BBIA, held under the chairmanship of general secretary Lalit Mahajan.
The meet discussed the alleged harassment being faced by the Industrial units at Toll Post Lakhanpur resulting into great resentment amongst the Industrial fraternity.
“From the last ten days, hundreds of trucks of Pesticides manufacturing units have been held up at Toll Post Lakhanpur and even after the clarification given by Industries Department, heavy penalty has been imposed on the unit holders by the Toll Post Lakhanpur,” the meet informed alleging that the ETOs at Toll Post Lakhanpur were creating problems for the Industrial units by putting unnecessary `ifs’ and `buts’ for the reasons best known to them.
The meet appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,  Finance Minister A R Rather and Minister for Industries Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo to intervene into the matter and issue orders for the refund of penalty imposed on Pesticides manufacturing units.
Meanwhile, according to BBIA president Annil Suri, the matter was also raised before Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during Industrial Advisory Committee meeting, held today at Srinagar.
The CM assured to look into the matter and issue necessary directions for any avoiding inconvenience to  the Industrial fraternity, Mr Suri added.
