JAMMU, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its meeting , here today, where the community members were apprised by the Association president and ex MLA Sat Paul Lakhotra about the latest official communications on steps for social and economic upliftment of Batwal community.
As per a communication dated 01 Jan 2016 received here, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has forwarded Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association’s memorandum to Commissioner Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department with the request to have the same examined for appropriate action. Earlier, the Governor House vide its communication dated 10 Nov 2015, had forwarded the Association’s memorandum to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister’s Secretariat, said Lakhotra adding that in the memorandum, the Association has, interalia, stated that a huge segment of Batwal population putting up in urban, rural and hilly areas of the State is educationally and socially most backward and as such, urged the Government to take immediate steps for its social and economic uplift.
Association urged the Commissioner Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department to have its memorandum examined at his earliest convenience.
Further, the Association announced that the 119th birthday of Sri Guru Gyagi Ji would be celebrated in a big way on Feb 22, 2016 (i.e. Magh Purnima) at Shahzadpur Kothi. In this regard, the Association constituted a Birthday Celebration Committee comprising Ex MLA Sat Paul Lakhotra (convener), Capt Om Parkash Tugga, Capt Kamal Chand Motan, Capt Ram Lal Sargotra, Sub-Maj Thoru Ram Mandi, Sub-Maj Romesh Sargotra, Sub Baldev Chand Sandhu, Sub Narayan Dass Bassa, Hav Des Raj Kaith, Hav Uttam Chand Sandhu, Hav Rattan Lal Motan, Mel Ram Tugga, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Bua Ditta Kaith, Harbans Lal Motan, Ram Singh Kaith, Piara Lal Lakhotra, O P Sargotra, Bhawani Lakhotra and Chaman Lal Kaith as members.
The Association appealed devotees to actively participate in the birth commemorative function and seek benevolent blessings of the Guru.
