Basohli Paintings fetch ‘Best Decoration Award’ for J&K Tourism at OTM

JAMMU, Feb 5: The Directorate of Tourism, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been selected for the “Best Decoration Award” at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) held at Mumbai. Basohli Paintings which were put on display is cited as the main reason for J&K securing this award.

Basohli Paintings is the world famous art and tradition of one of the most picturesque and scenic places in Kathua. The Award was received by Deepika K Sharma, Director, Tourism Jammu from Union Secretary for Tourism in the valedictory ceremony, he added.
Secretary Tourism, MOT, Govt of India Yogendra Tripathi visited the J&K stall and appreciated the design, which was themed on Basohli paintings.
The Union Secretary was briefed about Skyview Gandola at Patnitop with highest ground clearance. The Secretary emphasized that more such projects on Private Public Participation (PPP) model shall give a major boost to tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also interacted with the representatives of different travel associations of Jammu and Kashmir.
Over 130 participants from the JK UT participated in the three day Mart. Over 1000 exhibitors from domestic market and abroad participated in one of the most prestigious event of the tourism industry.
The event saw twenty percent increase in participation and fifty percent increase in visitors over the previous year.
