The Prime Minister Modi has been laying stress on bringing about innovative changes in different areas of our economy, in particular our agriculture. Last month only while visiting our North East states, he underlined the need for and the vast potential of organic farming in those states. Not only is nowadays that in great demand for taste and health matters but it is proving beneficial for the health of the soil and results in cost effectiveness. It is heartening to note that under “Basmati Cluster Scheme”, world famous Basmati rice of our RS Pura shall soon be grown under organic farming. Nearly 600 Hectares of land shall be used for this new farming to restore original flavour and taste to this mouth watering basmati rice. Three major rice growing villages including Suchetgarh have been identified for the purpose and following onset of Monsoon rains, cultivation shall commence. Conventional manures and not chemical fertilisers like Urea, Potash, Nitrogen etc shall used in its production.
As results are expected to be more than what is hoped, it is requested that the Government should extend this organic farming of Basmati to the entire belt of R S Pura so that not only the tasteful, pretty and full of traditional flavour Basmati is produced in good quantity but income too of farmers gets increased appreciably.
