UDHAMPUR, Mar 25: The inhabitants of villages Rasli Gaderan, Rasli Thakrai, Chatrairi and Majouri of Basantgarh Block today held a massive demonstration at Majouri and blocked the Ramnagar-Basantgarh road in protest against total neglect of their respective areas in the matter of development.
The protestors raised slogans against MLA Ramnagar and sought his resignation for belying the hopes and aspirations of the people. The protesters staged a dharna resulting in blockage of the vehicular traffic for about three hours and suspended their dharna only upon the assurance of SDM Basantgarh for redressal of their grievances.
The protestors who agitated the all-round neglect of the area were assured of posting of adequate staff in various schools of the area and immediate posting of adequate staff in Middle school Mandu Dharmal which had gone defunct. The protestors said that several attachments of teachers had been allowed to continue despite Governor’s directions for detachment.
The protestors further raked the issue of ration crises with the ration dealers indulging in black-marketing and other corrupt practices. They also expressed grave concern over the acute power crisis in the area with damaged transformers not being replaced for months together.
