Srinagar, Sept 8: The residents of Basant Bagh in Srinagar are suffering due to the contaminated drinking water being provided to them even as several people in the area have fallen ill.
The residents told Excelsior that they are being provided with the impure water while as at several instances, they have found worms coming out of their taps.
“We are facing the situation for the last several weeks now and the concerned department is not even taking note of the issue,” the residents said.
They said that there have been various incidents when people have fallen sick after consuming the drinking water. “There is no other source of water so we are forced to consume the same after taking due precautions,” they said.
The residents have appealed to the concerned department to look into the matter and take measures so that the issue is resolved without any further delay.
The officials of the PHE informed Excelsior that they will be dispatching the team early in the morning to ascertain the ground situation while assuring quick redressal of the same.
