Bar Association takes out protest rally in support of demands

JAMMU, Aug 5: Continuing its ongoing protest, the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, under the leadership of its President M K Bhardwaj today took out a protest rally from High Court to Deputy Commissioner office as well as Central Administrative Tribunal.
Holding National Flags in their hands, the agitating lawyers were raising slogans in favour of their demands and staged dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office. They were demanding construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work—Registration, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises.
They made it clear that Bar Association will continue its strike till the redressal of their grievances. They also held protest demonstration in the court complex as well as in various parts of Jammu city in support of their demands.
Talking to media-persons, M K Bhardwaj said that as far as positioning of Central Administrative Tribunal is concerned, advocates and litigants are facing immense difficulties as there is no proper place for parking, no place for advocates waiting hall and no proper infrastructure.
He urged the UT Administration to resolve the demands / issues put forth by the Bar Association without further delay. “Due to the wrong policies of the UT Government the members of the Bar Association as well as general public are facing lot of difficulties and problems”, he added.
Mohinder Pal Singh Palli, Vice President warned the UT Government against adopting delaying tactics towards the genuine demands of the Bar Association. “We are protesting for our demands since long but the UT Government is not awakening from deep slumber”, he added.
The Bar members also abstained from work in all the courts including the High Court, District Courts, Tribunals, all Revenue Courts and Commissions on account of the protest.
All the office bearers namely Mohinder Pal Singh Pali (Vice President), Surjeet Singh Andotra (General Secretary), Aditya Sharma (Joint Secretary), Amandeep Singh (Treasurer), Rohit Sharma (YLA President), Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), Karanjeet Singh Johal Joint Secretary (YLA), Naresh Kumar Treasurer (YLA), besides many senior and young lawyers participated in the protest.
