JAMMU:
The J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) has decided to extend its strike for six more days, starting Monday, in protest against the police action on its members and the “peaceful” agitators during rallies today over the demand for setting up AIIMS in the region.
“In view of the police action on our president, lawyers and the common public who were protesting today to get AIIMS for Jammu, we have decided to extend our strike from August 3 to August 8,” a BAJ spokesman said.
He said that work in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and all other subordinate courts in Jammu would suspend the work for six days beginning from Monday.
The BAJ have accused the Jammu and Kashmir police of manhandling the activists of the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) who were “holding peaceful protests” for the second day over the demand for setting up AIIMS in the region.
The BAJ has earlier suspended the work in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu, from July 24 to July 30 protesting over the issue. (AGENCIES)
