Bar Association, civil society pledge no space to anti-nationals in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 21: J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu and prominent members of Jammu Civil Society today held four hour long event in the High Court premises to pay floral tributes to the CRPF martyrs of Pulwama terror attack.
On the occasion, a number of resolutions were unanimously adopted. It was resolved that no anti-national element would be given any space whatsoever in whole of the Jammu province as the people of Jammu, irrespective of caste and creed are nationalists to the core and committed to the unity and integrity of India.
“Jammu province is known for communal harmony, peaceful co-existence and politics of exclusiveness. The people of Jammu province have all through displayed spirit of brotherhood and accommodation and this can be seen that the two million refugees have been living in Jammu since decades with the original inhabitants always at their back and call,” said members of the Bar and civil society.
They reaffirmed their commitment to the nation by saying that the nation is first and to protect and promote the interest of the nation, they could go to any extent. “People of Jammu province have all through fought for the nation in Jammu province and they shall continue to do so without fear and favour and at whatever cost. We cannot allow the rise of any kind of anti-national tendency in Jammu province,” they said.
President of the Bar Association, Advocate B S Slathia informed that BAJ has decided to resume its work in all the Courts from February 22.
Prominent among those, who spoke in the programme, included L K Sharma, Judge (Retd) Paviter Singh (president Rajput Sabha), Bishan Singh Jamwal, Prof Hari Om, Th Gulchain Singh Charak (president Dogra Sadar Sabha), Yash Paul Gupta (president Retailer Federation, Jammu), Sunil Sethi, Aslam Goni, M R Qureshi , Masood Choudhary , Sheikh Mehmood (Retd SP ), Sohail Kazmi , Neeraj Anand (president Chamber of Traders Federation), Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Khalid Hussain ( Retd D C ) , Amanat Ali Shah (president Anjuman Imamia) , Sajjad Poonchi and Ved Parkash Sharma (president Brahman Sabha).
Prominent Civil Society members and lawyers present on the occasion, included Prof Shujat Ahmed Khan (Chairman Jammu Muslim Front), Mod Aslam Qureshi (Retd IAS), Naseem Malik ( Retd DC Excise), Raman Gupta, Shiv Kumar Gupta , Surinder Mahajan , Deepak Gupta, Mohan Lal Gupta, Anoop Aggarwal. Parveen Sharma , Harish Gupta and others.
