Banned forest produce seized

DODA, July 4: The sleuths of Forest Department seized 54 kilograms of banned forest produce.
This was informed that Dr Jatinder Singh Conservator of Forest Chenab Circle while addressing a press conference at Gandoh. DFO Bhaderwah Chander Sheikar was also present on the occasion.
Dr Singh said that on specific information developed by Range Officer (RO) Bhalesa Suresh Jamwal regarding smuggling of rare herb, a Forest Department team laid a naka at Ghati and recovered 54 kilograms of banned forest produce.
“We got information regarding smuggling of banned herbs to the neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh and after receiving information, the sleuths of the Forest Department seized the banned forest produce, while two smugglers escaped from the spot”, Dr Singh stated.
A case under Section 26 of Indian Forest Act has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated, he added.
