Srinagar, May 27: While recently a teenager from Tral wrote a fantasy novel, this time over, another girl from Banihal has come up with her debut book which is collection of prose and poetry. The collection is, as she says, a vent that she has actually given to thoughts and feeling while she was undergoing a rough patch of her life.
Sadaf Wani, a 23-years old civil engineer by profession told Excelsior that whatever she has written that has been collected and presented to the readers in the shape of the book named ‘An Anxious Mindm” is actually the vent that she has given to her feeling when she was undergoing through a difficult part of her life.
“I was undergoing depression and anxiety due to certain reasons during my years in engineering, there was no one to talk to and I was away from home as well. Being away from home was the sole reason that it plunged me into something where from my flight back seemed impossible at that time,” Sadaf said.
But Sadaf did not budge at all. In order to make herself feel light and experience a sense of release and relief, Sadaf resorted to scribbling her notebook for more than 2 years, and as per her, tried to speak her heart out; while she kept on writing whatever otherwise she needed to speak out, the thoughts, feelings and sufferings started to pile up. It is this plethora of writings that she would choose from to bring out her poetry collection.
Sadaf, bringing out her collection of poetry and prose has not only helped her ultimately feel that the process of healing has ended and so has something which once made her suffer-at the same time, her effort can inspire many of her age.
Dr Tasaduk Hussain, an educationist, who has also read her book, said that he believes the book is crucial in this era of mental health crisis. “After going through the book, I would say the author has been more practical in her approach in writing the book. The author has practically addressed the sufferings faced by people of depression and anxiety,” he said. He adds that the author acknowledges that negativity in one’s emotions, thoughts and feelings “negatively impact the belief pattern of the person.”
