*Inaugurates 2nd Police Public Cricket Premier League

JAMMU May 27: More than skill and talent, sportspersons need mental toughness to blossom at the higher levels, especially in the crunch situations. Making quick decisions and analyzing the areas of strengths and weaknesses of the opponents is directly proportional to the success of a sportsperson.
This was stated by IGP Jammu, MK Sinha while inaugurating the 2nd Police Public Cricket Premier league in an impressive, well attended and colourful function at KC Sports Club, here today.
Mr Sinha was the chief guest on the occasion, while Anil Goswami, former Union Home Secretary presided over the function. Sujit Kumar, DIG Jammu was the guest of honour, while Tejinder Singh, SSP Jammu and Romesh Mahajan, former Chairman JKCA were the special guests.
The chief guest said that Cricket is like religion in our country and unites all sections of the society, adding that it has become a career option for the younger generation in the present era.
He further said the main objective of the J&K Police is to engage the youth at grass-root level in different sports activities to showcase their skill and not to derail from the mainstream.
Dance performance by KC School students and singing item by Rohini Verma were the highlights of the day.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill presented welcome address, while Rajesh Dhar and Justina Victor conducted the proceedings of the programme.
The league is being organized under the Chairmanship of MK Sinha IGP Jammu.
The sponsors of the league includes Vivo, J&K Police, KC Sports Club, J&K Bank, 92.7 Big FM, Simula Sports Club, Boby 74, Surya Milk,ACC, Pir Panchal Construction, Nar Narayan Seva Ashram, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, Rivazo Homes and Teg Infra.
In the first match, AKN Strikers defeated Vriddhi Royals by 14 runs.
Batting first, AKN strikers scored 154 runs in 20 overs. Sumit top scored with 56 runs, while Dhruv Parmar and Himaal Gupta contributed 42 and 23 runs respectively. From Vridhy Royals, Tegvansh took 3 wickets, while Dhruv took 2 wickets.
In reply, Vriddhi Royals scored 140 runs to lose the match by 14 runs. Tarun Bisht top scored with 47 runs, while Rydham Sharma and Lakshaya Mehra contributed 29 and 26 runs respectively. From AKN Strikers, Rahil took 2 wickets while Jugjab and Dhruv claimed 1 wicket each. Sumit was declared as the man of the match with Rs 2,000 and gift hamper from Vivo.
In another match, Samar Strikers defeated Horizon Kings by 12 runs. Batting first, Samar Strikers scored 157 runs. Sumit Chikara top scored with 70 runs, while Achintaya contributed 47 runs. From Horizon Kings, Rohan, Sahil and Arhab took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Horizon Kings managed to score 145 runs, thus lost the match by 12 runs. Surya top scored with 56 runs, while Raj and Akshit contributed 22 and 21 runs respectively. From Samar Strikers, Shavac and Prabjot took 3 wickets each. Sumit was declared as the man of the match with Rs. 2,000 and a gift hamper from Vivo.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Horizon Kings will take on KC Royals at 7.30 am, Count Fitness Hurricanes will face GSI Tigers at 10.30 am and KC Sports Club will meet The Game Changer at 1.30 pm.
