Addressing the protesters social activist Lekh Raj said that there has been shortage of staff in SDH Bani for a long time and this issue has been a long pending demand of the people of the region and it is quite unfortunate that the district administration has turned blind eye towards this very genuine demand of the people. He said that there is no Gynaecologist, Physician or Paediatrician.
Moreover, there is no doctor to conduct ultrasound because of which the people of Bani which is a hilly area are suffering a lot. He said that the sufferings of pregnant ladies are all the more as they have to travel to Kathua which is around 160 km distance from here thus putting the life of the mother as well as the expected child to risk.
Sarpanch Bani, Rakesh Gupta alleged that the district administration is insensitive to the significant issues of Bani region. The callousness on the part of administration is evident by the very fact that since the transfer of SDM from Bani more than a month ago the post continues to be vacant.
The protestors appealed to the district administration to address the issues of the people by accepting their demands at the earliest. They threatened to launch agitation if Government failed to post the doctors, staff and SDM in Bani.
