JAMMU, Dec 19: Minorities today observed bandh in Kishtwar town in protest against desecration of a temple at village Chanjar in Marwah area of the district.
All shops and business establishments owned by the minorities remained closed in Kishtwar town and outskirts to express resentment over desecration of a temple at village Chanjar on the intervening night of December 16 and 17.
The bandh passed off peacefully, official reports said.
Minorities at village Dachchan in Kishtwar district also held a protest demonstration against the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the miscreant(s) involved in desecration of the temple.
Police have assured representatives of the minorities that the accused involved in the desecration of the religious place would be identified and arrested shortly.
