JAMMU, May 8: Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Balwant Thakur, today met the 1st scholar of the ICCR, Tshivolo Tshandyemwene Renatte of Namibia (Africa) at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), RS Pura, where she is undergoing BV Sc and AH.
Tshivolo Tshandyemwene Renatte is the first scholar of the ICCR studying in the State of Jammu & Kashmir under its (ICCR’s) scholarship programme.
Later, Balwant Thakur also called on the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of SKUAST, Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, and apprised him about the mission of ICCR in awarding the scholarships to the foreign students for their study in India.
He requested the VC to create avenues for such foreign students to orient them with the local culture so that when they go back to their respective countries, they also take along the images of the rich heritage of the place.
