JAMMU, Apr 6: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat asserted to improve medical facilities in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Official sources said that Minister paid visit to GMCH and interacted with patients in the Emergency Ward where he found deficiency of ventilators.
Minister also interacted with the patients admitted in Ward Number 11, wherein he came to know about the sanitation problem and the same problem was noticed by Bali Bhagat in several other wards of the hospital.
Drinking water is not available in the hospital as the water coolers installed in the hospital are either defunct or out of order, sources said
“Shortage of medicines vis-à-vis glucose, disposable syringes, etc was noticed by the Minister in the hospital”, sources said, adding that staff shortage is a big issue in the hospital as one Nursing Orderly (NO) is looking after two wards.
In ward number 9, no doctor was found available for which the Minister will take action, sources added.
When contacted, Minister Bali Bhagat told the EXCELSIOR that GMC is in worst condition and he has taken to improve the medical facilities in the hospital as a challenge.
“There are several things to be improved in the hospital so that the people coming from various parts of the Jammu Province could get specialized treatment in the hospital so that they have not to move to other States for treatment”, Minister said.
