Kishtwar, Oct 10: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today laid foundation stone of Tertiary Cancer Centre (TCC) at Hargaddi Matta here.
Minister of State for Transport (independent charge) , PWD, RDD, Agriculture and Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Sharma was also present on the occasion.
The Cancer Care Centre proposed for Kishtwar is among three other centres sanctioned by the Central Government for Jammu and Kashmir.
The other two centres are proposed to be established at Handwara in North Kashmir Kupwara district and Udhampur.
Speaking after the foundation laying ceremony, the Minister said with the establishment of the centre the people of entire erstwhile Doda district would be benefitted as this would be first institute in the region providing the specialized healthcare services for cancer patients.
Earlier, the Ministers inaugurated the first study session at the newly established ANMT School in Kishtwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bali said that this school is dedicated to thousands of aspirants who had to go to outside the district for undergoing ANM training earlier. He also said that this school will help in nurturing the immense talent available in district and boost the public health care delivery system. Giving a detailed account of the building of the school, he said that the building has been constructed by J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs.230.00 lakh and have classrooms on ground floor and hostel facility with mess for ANMs on first floor. The class in this school will start functioning soon.
The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, G N Balwan, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh Soodan, SSP Kishtwar, Sandeep Wazir, CMO Kishtwar, Dr Vijay Kumar Sahni and various other district officers and prominent citizens.
