JAMMU, Mar 13: Senior BJP leader and former Health Minister, Bali Bhagat, has strongly condemned the recent directive issued by the Administrator of Associated Hospitals, GMC Jammu, which halts the salaries of employees engaged under academic arrangements in GMC and its associated hospitals under SRO 364.
Bhagat expressed deep concern over the fate of nearly 1,200 such employees, who have been serving diligently at GMC Jammu and its associated hospitals for years. He reminded the Administration that these healthcare workers played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, risking their lives to treat infected patients. “These brave warriors served selflessly during the pandemic, but instead of being recognized, they are now being treated unfairly,” Bhagat said.
The former Health Minister criticized the Omar Abdullah-led administration for its failure to address the severe shortage of healthcare workers in Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that despite being in power for over five months; the Government has not filled thousands of vacant posts in the health sector.
Bhagat called for the immediate revocation of the order, stressing that stopping salaries of employees who have dedicated years of service was unjust and inhumane. He also emphasized that regularizing these employees would not burden the UT’s finances, as they are already engaged against sanctioned posts. Bhagat urged the government to intervene, ensuring these employees’ continued service and job security.
