JAMMU, Dec 18: The 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Balgran-a charitable home for destitute children located at Channi Rama, Jammu was held today in its premises.
Honorary Secretary of the Balgran, V K Raina in his welcome address, briefed the house about day-to-day activities of the Trust. He further informed the members that the construction work of Dormitory for girls on the first floor of the building of Balgran is likely to start by March 2020 out of the funds provided by Vikram Randhawa (ex-MLC).
He informed the House that Balgran will increase the strength of the girls by 10 during new admissions in March 2020. The Honorary Secretary also placed before the House the annual report of Balgran for 2017-18. During the meeting, revised budget for 2018-19 was also approved by the House.
The House discussed various issues for better management of Balgran. The members demanded that the admission age of the children in Balgran be raised to 5-10 years instead of 5-9 years with one year relaxation. They also emphasized on security from police for the inmates of Balgran, sending children for skilled courses and approaching Social Welfare Department for help to BPL children.
