JAMMU, July 30: Director Social Welfare Jammu, Vir Ji Hangloo has shifted Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan inmates from R S Pura to Working Women Hostel, Roop Nagar in Jammu.
Official sources said that due to heavy rain and flood on July 27, the water entered the entire Social Welfare Department complex at R S Pura. About 4-5 ft water was witnessed at Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram having more than 60 inmates. The children were rescued on tractors and shifted to safer place. The Director SWD and other senior officers also rushed there. Later, the inmates of these homes were shifted to Working Women Hostel, Jammu temporarily. The belongings of the inmates were also badly damaged. The local administration led by SDM R S Pura also accorded helping hand in shifting these inmates.
