JAMMU, Jan 2: As part of Sadbhavana project, Army with coordination of Aseem Foundation had established Waadiyan Bakery Project, at Army VTC hall Magnar, Poonch.
The bakery is proving as a better source of income to the women of Magnar village as they are employed there.
Inaugurated on April 19 last year by the GOC CIF (R), the bakery project was humane gesture from the armed forces and is also promoting harmonious relations between the local populace and Army deployed in Poonch.
Mangnar is a remote village in Poonch having limited resources with main source of income being the agriculture.
Tasleem Akhter, 26, one of the 12 women engaged in the bakery project, has a big family with poor source of income.
Many girls like her in the village had to face the same struggle until the Army in coordination with a Pune based NGO took the initiative and started the venture to foster empowerment and up-liftment of the women in the region.
This opportunity has transformed the life of Tasleem Akhter and 11 other women of the region who, since their employment, have realized their inner potential and have been able to contribute financially towards fulfilling their personnel needs as well as that of their family members.
