JAMMU, June 4: Former Chief Secretary and MLC Vijay Bakaya inaugurated a deep drain in Durga Nagar for which he had sanctioned Rs 3.30 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Besides the residents of the area the officers of UEED were also present on the occasion. Later he addressed a public meeting in the area. The speakers who addressed the meeting included Sarwanand Pandita, Mohan Lal, B N Hali and Roshan Lal Raina, president of the Durga Naar Welfare Committee which organized the function.
Besides them Mohan Lal Pandita, Mohan Lal, Behari Lal, Rakesh Kuamr, D N Kissu, Prof G L Koul and M K Yogi working president Minority Cell attended the function. The programme was conducted by P K Raina.
The residents also highlighted the problems of the area due to water scarcity, prolonged power cuts etc. They demanded enhancement of cash relief, inclusions of names in voters list and financial assistance for the people suffering from life consuming disease and completion of drainage work in the area.
Mr Bakaya assured the gathering that he would take up the isuses with concerned authrotieis.
