JAMMU, Nov 26: Former Chief Secretary and MLC Vijay Bakaya today urged the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, to take immediate steps in allotment of quarters to the retired migrant police personnel putting up in police quarters at Channi Himmat and Gulshan Ground.
Mr Bakaya has also appealed the police authorities not to enforce the eviction notices to these retired police personnel who have no alternative as these people have no place for shelter in Jammu and allow them to stay in these quarters till allotment of the TRTs by relief agency is made in their favour.
Earlier a delegation of retired police personnel called on Mr Bakaya and sought his intervention in the matter.
They informed him that they are in a dilemma since the serving of eviction notice by the Police Department to them asking them to vacate the quarters. They said as they have no place to take shelter in Jammu and outside and with a meager source of income they are also unable to pay the rent outside. They appealed him to take up the issue with relief organization for allotment of quarters to them at Jagti township.
