JAMMU:Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) today suspended work, protesting against the security lapse in the court complex at Janipur area in which a man was shot at by members of a rival gang.
“The BAJ decided to suspend work in protest against the security lapses in the court complex which led to exchange of gun shots posing a serious threat to security of judicial officers, advocates and litigants,” BAJ President Abhinav Sharma told.
The decision to suspend work today was taken at a BAJ meeting after the shootout in which one Surinder Singh received bullet injuries on his leg when members of a rival gang fired at him inside the court complex yesterday.
According to the police, the two gangs involved in the clash were Kala group and Nalwa group.
The High Court police post in-charge, Sub-Inspector Daleep Singh has been placed under suspension whereas the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Janipur police station Ajit Singh has been transferred for dereliction of duty. (PTI)
