JAMMU, Jan 7: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, R S Jain today rejected the bail application of Asif Majid and Shabir Ahmed, who were facing trial in NDPS case.
Both the accused were arrested by Gangyal Police on November 16, 2014 along with 40 kilograms of poppy straw. Accordingly, case under Section 8/15 NDPSA was registered against them.
“The accused were having 40 kilograms of poppy straw and the question arises if they were keeping illicit drug in such a large quantity in their possession while on the street, it cannot be obviously for their personal use but rather to deal in illicit trade of selling the same to the drug addicts”, the court said.
“No good ground is made out by the petitioners/accused Ashif Majid and Shabir Ahmed for enlarging them on bail”, the court said while rejecting their bail application.
