Baig appeals displaced Pandits to support PDP

JAMMU, Apr 29: PDP senior leader, former Deputy Chief Minister and Party candidate from Baramulla-Kupwara Lok Sabha Constituency, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, in an appeal to displaced Pandits from his Constituency has asked them to vote in his favour in May 7 Lok Sabha elections.
In a statement issued here, today, Mr Baig said to help him and his party in the direction of honourable and dignified return of displaced Pandits to Valley for restoration of composite and pluralistic culture in Kashmir which has been one of the prime objectives of PDP, he needs trust, prayers and support of the displaced Pandits from Valley.
Maintaining that Pandits are the original residents of Kashmir Mr Baig said the community members can and shall, prosper as individuals or families wherever they go, “But I fear that in a few decades, if you are not enabled to return to your motherland, your existence as a distinct and unique ethnic community will be imperiled which would be an irreparable loss’’, he added.
The PDP leader said that whereas an individual he has no role to play in the migration of Pandits and he himself has been a victim of tragic violence yet he felt that he should accept facts and tender his sincere regrets to the entire KP community for the pain and loss it suffered.
Baig said he believes that where ever Pandits will go their heart will beat for Kashmir and Kashmir is also incomplete without them. He said for return of peace and security in Kashmir there is need of working together for this cause.
