CHANDIGARH, Sept 12:
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif the issue of safety and security of life and property of people belonging to the Sikh and other minority communities in Pakistan.
In a letter, Badal told the Prime Minister that reports of killings of Sikhs in Pakistan are extremely disturbing, an official statement quoting Badal said here.
Describing this issue of “extreme urgency and concerning everyone” in India in general and the members of the Sikh community in particular, Badal apprised the Prime Minister that several innocent Sikhs have been killed by unknown assailants in different parts of Pakistan in recent weeks.
The Chief Minister claimed there was an atmosphere of panic among the minority community families in Pakistan following the recent killings in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. (PTI)
