Babar calls on VP, discusses program to protect Pashmina Eco-System

JAMMU, Apr 20: The Himalayan abstract artist and Pashmina activist, Babar Afzal, called on Vice-President (VP) of India, Hamid Ansari at New Delhi, to discuss the three point program for Global Pashmina Goat Project.
Babar told Ansari that he has been working from past several years on the three point program (preservation of Pashmina Goat, creation of awareness about fake Pashmina and creation of a retail fair trade platforms for Pashmina Industry) to protect and enhance entire Pashmina Eco-system, which otherwise is on the verge of extinction, as erratic climatic conditions and snow has been killing Pashmina Goats in the Indian Himalayas from past several years.
Babar explained VP that all his initiatives are being put together under the NGO “Kashmirink Foundation”, and it would help everyone who is linked with Pashmina.
He also apprised Ansari that he is working with the Pashmina Industry Stakeholders and in process of launching the Pashmina Testing Service, where anyone can get their Pashmina Shawls or Stoles tested for their purity and authenticity.
He also disclosed that he is working on putting “Pashmina Fair Trade Expositions” for Pashmina and also ”Care for Pashmina Goat” initiatives together and will launch the website www.pashmina goat.com soon where everyone who is linked with Pashmina Eco-System can participate and ensure that the entire pashmina eco-system is enhanced.
Later Babar presented a painting titled ‘The King’ to VP, which he had himself made on Pashmina fibre.
The VP appreciated the incredible work and initiative of Babar Afzal and assured his support to his initiative.
